Next we introduce the basic mechanics of striking.

This alone is often foreign to many women. We start by striking small pads to experience contact. We slow down if training with a partner.

Our hands are precious so we also learn how to use other less vulnerable parts of our body for striking - an elbow or a knee.

(by the way when you get used to this it’s lots of fun and empowering too!)

Next we learn the mechanics of kicking. We practice "creative kicking" and again we feel contact with an air shield.

We learn that while kicking our balance is often precarious.
As we learn balance we also learn to fall... and to get up again.

Once you are familiar with the basic techniques we introduce you to training with a partner. The partner learns to strike, wrestle or attack you with a weapon (a practice weapon of course). You learn forms of overcoming the attack.

A great feeling of confidence comes with this training.

In this class you learn the elements of safety. Eventually you are introduced to more complicated scenarios. Safety and communication are increased as training advances into intermediate levels.
